WEBVTT

00:00.000 --> 00:06.000
So shall we get a started?

00:06.000 --> 00:08.000
Great.

00:08.000 --> 00:11.000
So welcome everybody to the Ada Deb Room.

00:11.000 --> 00:15.000
It's been a couple of years since we've had not one of them.

00:15.000 --> 00:19.000
We have a bit of quite a few updates in terms of projects,

00:19.000 --> 00:24.000
in terms of technologies related to the language,

00:24.000 --> 00:26.000
and also some introductory talks.

00:26.000 --> 00:29.000
If you are new to the language and you would like to learn some of it.

00:30.000 --> 00:35.000
This Deb Room has been done in collaboration with Ada Europe and Ada Belgium.

00:35.000 --> 00:40.000
I will let the president of Ada Belgium introduce these two institutions a little bit,

00:40.000 --> 00:43.000
in case you would like to know a little bit more.

00:43.000 --> 00:45.000
Okay, thank you, Fair.

00:47.000 --> 00:53.000
So a few words about these organizations.

00:53.000 --> 00:58.000
These are all non-profit organizations that were set up with the main aim

00:58.000 --> 01:01.000
to promote the Ada Programming Language and Technology.

01:01.000 --> 01:06.000
There are several of these in many countries, Belgium and all others,

01:06.000 --> 01:09.000
also other countries as indicated there.

01:09.000 --> 01:12.000
And historically there was this Ada Europe organization,

01:12.000 --> 01:16.000
which was a kind of federation of all the national organizations.

01:16.000 --> 01:21.000
Over time this evolved to become an organization that has members worldwide,

01:21.000 --> 01:27.000
also direct members in countries where there is no national organization.

01:27.000 --> 01:33.000
And these non-profit organizations do various activities.

01:33.000 --> 01:36.000
The main ones are by Ada Europe.

01:36.000 --> 01:39.000
And that's threefold, the main activities.

01:39.000 --> 01:47.000
One is an annual conference in the international conference on the reliable software technologies series.

01:47.000 --> 01:52.000
That's every year in another country.

01:52.000 --> 01:58.000
We try to go to several countries where there are teams that are people that are interested

01:58.000 --> 02:01.000
and willing to help with the organization.

02:01.000 --> 02:06.000
We also publish a journal, the Ada user journal, four times a year,

02:06.000 --> 02:08.000
already for many, many years.

02:08.000 --> 02:12.000
This year is the 40, 50 edition.

02:12.000 --> 02:17.000
And the third main activity is support of the language,

02:17.000 --> 02:24.000
evolution and standardization under ISO that we try to support and maintain.

02:24.000 --> 02:26.000
I mentioned the conference.

02:26.000 --> 02:29.000
The next, the previous one was in Barcelona in Spain.

02:29.000 --> 02:33.000
The next one is mid-June in Paris.

02:33.000 --> 02:38.000
Well, you see some pointers.

02:38.000 --> 02:44.000
There is a little flyer as well, which has links to all the important pages.

02:44.000 --> 02:48.000
For the conference, the call for papers is still open.

02:48.000 --> 02:52.000
For the journal track, it's very, very close.

02:52.000 --> 02:53.000
So that's a bit too late.

02:53.000 --> 02:59.000
But for all the other tracks, we still have, there's still an opportunity to submit.

02:59.000 --> 03:08.000
And there's a small flyer of two pages on the web page for this small opening talk information.

03:08.000 --> 03:13.000
So I'd say enjoy the devroom and get your sticker if you want one.

03:13.000 --> 03:16.000
To put on your laptop or somewhere else.

03:16.000 --> 03:18.000
Enjoy it.

03:24.000 --> 03:29.000
So now we will move on to the actual presentations.

03:29.000 --> 03:33.000
Once again, don't be shy and grab as many things as you want.

03:33.000 --> 03:36.000
And the flyers that dear cast, please.

03:36.000 --> 03:40.000
We brought them here and out to live with them back home.

03:40.000 --> 03:47.000
So without further ado, then I will be working on the introduction to the updates in the aid

03:47.000 --> 03:49.000
ecosystem in the past few years.

03:49.000 --> 03:54.000
So let me make sure I have both hands.

03:54.000 --> 03:55.000
Three.
