HARDWARE USED:
    166MHz Pentium and 200MHz Pentium

ANIMATION DESCRIPTION:

The animation follows the action of an assassin passing various security
measures (x-rays and retinal scan), eventually completing his assassination
(obviously an inside job).

VIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS:
It seems a little dark... may need gamma correction...

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED:

With the topic being 'Inner Workings', I thought there may be a glut of
animations of mechanical-process-type submissions so I chose to take a slightly
different tack. Rather than make the focus of the animation exclusively on
object interiors, I tried to make the action the focus and integrate the 'Inner
Workings' theme into the action.

Inspiration came from 3 main sources -- all great movies: Terminator, Mission
Impossible, and The Matrix.

The movie was designed with approximately 1600 frames to be the estimated size.
In an effort to ensure that the total animation remained under the 5Mb limit, I
reduced the overall pixel count of the individual frames. I didn't want the
feeling of size to be much less than the recommended 320x240 so I went with a
'wide-screen' format (360x200). This seemed a good compromise.

All the layouts were done with pen and paper first, as were the camera angles,
the motion, and the timing.

The use of a human figure was a challenge. I used some pieces and fragments of
things I could find for free on the web. Unfortunately I did not keep track of
the source of these items so I am unable to give proper credit. Thanks to
whomever I obtained these from.

The man's body is a 3D mesh taken from a free 3D site on the web and converted
to POV using CrossRoads. The head was removed and replaced with a tweaked
version of one I found in sPatch format at another site. The texture for the
head is a modified image map of Mel Gibson's face. The body texture is orginal
creation in a paint program. The shoes are also original creations using
sPatch with my own original texture. Portions involving close-ups of the man's
arm/hand use a mesh I created in sPatch. All the internal organs and skeletal
structures are free 3D meshes obtained from the web. The eye is a sphere with
an image map of the iris and pupil.

The gun is another mesh obtained from another free 3D mesh site. The flame and
smoke are done with media statements.

The fish is an original sPatch creation with a image map photo used for
texture.

I created the plants using sPatch as well.

The pictures on the walls are various image maps obtained from the web and then
framed with a mesh object.

The chairs in the hallway and office, as well as the Venus de Milo statue are
free 3D meshes from the web.

The 'exploding' fishbowl was done using the publicly available 'Explode.inc'
file by Chris Colefax.

Post-processing was used in the segments that are in black and white, and where
a fisheye camera lens was used. Because of how the fisheye works, images were
rendered larger and then cut to size, eliminating the blank space. The
overlays during the body x-ray and retinal scan are also post-processed.

By stroke of fortune I was able to borrow a 200MHz computer from a friend which
aided considerably in the final time to render. Thanks Kev! My wife
particularly appreciated this because it allowed me the time to be with her
while she gave birth to our second child.
