    POV-Ray for Windows v3.5

TOOLS USED:
Perl, MIDI-Perl, Cakewalk, Dave's Targa Animator, TMPGEnc

A couple days to create. About 1.5 hrs to render the frames.

ANIMATION DESCRIPTION:

Lights appear and rise with each note played on the piano. The brightness of the
lights and how long they glow approximate the perceived loudness of the notes.

VIEWING RECOMMENDATIONS:

Make sure you can hear the music

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS ANIMATION WAS CREATED:

I composed and recorded the piano piece using Cakewalk Home Studio sequencing
software and my Kurzweil PC2 keyboard. I saved the song in MIDI and WAV
formats. I wrote a Perl script and used the MIDI-Perl library to parse the MIDI
file and generate a simple POV file to be rendered. After rendering the frames
in POV-Ray I used Dave's Targa Animator to create an .AVI animation file.
Finally I used TMPGEnc to combine the .AVI and .WAV files into the final MPEG
with sound.
