The cracked lakebed is a great texture, although it would look more realistic
if it were less shiny.  The skull is cute, and the mountain in the background
is wonderful.  The sand hills look like corduroy.  The fog is a bit too thick
for the desert, I think.

First the bad (or not so good)- The sand dunes (I think that's what they are)
need much work.  If realism is what you want, you've got a ways to go.

But if it's supposed to look kinda surreal and impressionistic, you've got that
down perfectly.  This pic's going on my "Windows" wallpaper.  :)  The overall
look is great, as is the originality.  It doesn't look exactly like a dry lake
bed, but it looks great none the less.

The whispy clouds on the purple sky and pinkish mountain add to the feel.

Plus, you've got the CSG stuff--good man!
