The background needs some stars or something, and your right the laser could use
some work.

That cylinder for the laser is a real bummer, a nice powerful crackling halo 
would have been much better.  There are some REAL nice examples in other
images (don't remember which ones!)

Cute concept.  The beam could have used a bit more anti-aliasing, and the
spaceman looks too stiff and posed.
