I think it is excellent how you can make a 3D renderer produce a flat cartoon
like that, mind you I never tried.

=====
From agage@mines.edu:
Interesting use of POVray to make a flat image. A while back (I can't remember
which round) there was an image done to look like a hand-drawn image, but
it was a bit lacking -- this does look very cartoonish, which is good.

Don't like Garfield character, but would have rated a 3D-looking cat highly.

From jaime@ctav.es:
No image_maps? Good cartoon work!

=====
From appel@informatik.tu-muenchen.de:
Probably some kind of overkill to use raytracing for a picture like this.
But I believe in Overkill, and it's well done anyway.

=====
From mmandl@aol.com:
It looks too flat for a 3-d image. I liked the concept.

=====
From dormammu@erols.com:
Very amusing.  As for suggestions:
If you're trying to make it look like a cartoon, I would suggest having black
outlines around Garfield to make it look more cartoon-like. (Maybe very thin
black cylinders would work?)

From bill@apocalypse.org:
No, I think images like these are not what the IRTC is about.

From karl@pemail.net:
Well it made us laugh. Nice and bright

From ethelm@bigfoot.com:
Your right! This is a funny picture and real comic book stuff.
Well Done for your second ever ray tracing.

=====
From gmccarter@hotmail.com:
Incredible! I would never have guessed it is raytraced. Never.

=====
From uwe.post@gmx.de:
brilliant idea.

=====
From djconnel@flash.net:
Interesting, but this is really not really a good demonstration
of a raytracer's strength.... the scene could have more
easily been done in a paint program.

=====
From cfusner@enter.net:
Originality is where this image shines. I don't think it will set off
a trend of raytraced cartoons, but it is certainly a noteworthy
accomlishment to make a whole (recognizable) image out of splines.

From peter@table76.demon.co.uk:
That's different! It's nice to see someone trying something different.

=====
From r@du13-251.ppp.algonet.se:
OK, original, but why bother to make it in a 3D renderer?
Notable for originality

Lay off the orthographics. (Besides, I like Odie better!)

From r@dial-up30.webbernet.net:
Nicely done. Why is he singing off key? ;-) Interesting and unusual technique.
 Perhaps he should be somewhat off center, maybe with a boot flying in from off
screen. I just wish you hadn't used a copyrighted character. This comment by
