I like this scene... it has a lot of potential!  Re the
background -- I like the black; it increases the sense
of the localization of the light, which is what
attracts the moths.

I agree with your comments -- it's clear with a little more
time this would have been even better,

Nice play of light and color.  I like the moths as they are.  The brass could
maybe use a little tasteful shining.  I agree that a background is needed.  The
