I like what you did with the NY Times frame for the image.  Technically, I think that you did a good job with the body of the Hindenberg, but you didn't attenuate the media enough for the explosions and as a result the spheres enclosing them are quite evident.  The ground scene is perhaps a little sparse.

Brilliant! Although the flames look kind of like Mickey Mouse :*) I really like the framing of the image; it might look nicer with a border around the image as well, though, but that's a minor quibble.

I don't get the poles or jet streams underneath front of craft.  Flames are a bit too regular. There was a huge crowd of people at the real event.

Nice idea, especially to use the old newspaper as a raytraced frame to the
main scene.
The fire shows all too obvious the shapes of the individual spheres it is
composed of.
The overall setting and composition is still very good and also the way the
fire illuminates the upper hull and the ground.
Did you know that the free image manipulation programm for Unix/X11 "The Gimp"
uses the original photograph on its startup window, along with the same tag
line of "oh the humanity".
The hull did not in fact have a wavy surface but perfectly straight and flat
areas seperated by sharp edges where the struts are.
If you ever come to Germany the Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen is
definitely worth a visit, they have a facsimile of a large chunk of a
Hindenburg class Zeppelin including an original remake of the hull and girder
construction.

Good techniques used.  Fine exercise in colorizing a greyscale image.  Yes, the explosion spheres are much too distracting.  Too bad the newspaper scan is so rough.

The scale of the airship is much better than the other Hindenberg image, but the
flames suffer from the fact that you can see the media containers.  I
sympathise!

at the other zeppelin in this round ("lake.jpg") to get an 
idea of what could be improved ;)

I like the idea of using the old black and white 
newspaper as a frame for the image.  I am a sucker for 
combining BW and color.  To fix the flames all you may 
have to do is increase the size of the media container.
