very cool. Ghost could be a little less solid, though

From whhale@nvl.army.mil:
Just barely on topic. Would have liked to have seen this for the horror round.

From agage@csee.usf.edu:
By the fact that the copyright in the lower right corner says "99", I have
to seriously doubt that this was done within the timeframe of the "Ruins"
competition. It is a beautiful image, but was it done according to the rules
of the competition?

Haunting. Good ghost story here

From chris@bluelectrode.com:
Nice job. This would have been a definitive winner two rounds ago. Even with the loose theme connection and poor description, not bad.

Nice atmosphere.

This is one of my favorites. I like the gostly figure in the background. Hopefully I can create a similar image for a a scene I have had in my mind for several months.

From jouni@mikrobitti.fi:
Good job, Juha! The lighting is very well done, and the ghost is a
fine addition to the scene. The wrinkled fence, the shovel resting
against the tree, the bent trees... All contain fine and fitting
details.

The image could've contained more of the real ruins stuff, but
even this way, it's definitely in my top ten. I would've liked to
read your image description, by the way. And I just wonder why
is the image signed in 1999???

From StephenF@whoever.com:
Very nice... I do like the glowing ghost figure a lot.
Overall, a very solid picture.

From clem@dhol.org:
I really like the trees and the swordlike grave markers.
The spade is a very good touch. The grass is good. The
fence, although well done, seems a bit too curvy for the
overall look of the scene. The crypt is ok, but could use
more detail. The ghost actually detracts from the image,
as does the cramped aspect ratio.

=====
From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au:
The grass was worth the effort. A good looking scene with some impressive
technical work. About the only thing I can suggest is some different
headstones, and making the crypt look a bit more ruined. The connection
to the theme is really the weak point here.

From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk:
Those trees look good, the building has a great texture, and the grass appears
very real. The spade leaning against the tree is a nice touch. I think that
you could have don without the ghost, but you would need something on that side
of the image to balance it out, some variation in the design of the crosses in
the ground might have helped out there. A good image.
