Relatively simple, but every part of it is just right.

I like this sand castle over the others because it shows
the ruin in action. Great control of isosurfaces

One of my top five.

Well done.... you got the sense of sand.....

From taymac@peaknet.net:
one of the best submissions, great composition, i can hear the surf...

From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com:
Pretty good, both sand and water. Although the water looks like it is at a
different scale : it looks like a sea shore taken from a distance on a very
stormy day.

From jouni@mikrobitti.fi:
Ok, definitely the best sandcastle image this round. You've done a
decent work in modeling the collapsed sand walls, but the castle
isn't joined to the sandy beach very smoothly. The water is a bit
unrealistically shiny in my opinion.

This aspect was lacking in all the sandcastles IMO: the sand near
the waterside is _considerably_ thicker and more wet than the sand
farther from water. You've done some of it, and yes, best of all the
sandcastles, but I still think more damp sand would've made it better.
I think one or two objects more behind the castle wouldn't have hurt,
either. Despite all that, nice touch!

From StephenF@whoever.com:
I like the sand texture and the whitewater lapping at the
shore's edge, and the crumbling parts of the castle came
out pretty good. The coloring/texturing on the pail
doesn't seem to fit in that well with the rest of the
scene. A solid effort overall, though.

From jaime@ctav.es:
Great sand! The erosion by water is really amazing. The water foam is perhaps
to brilliant, but that's very dificult, I know. I'm really intrigued on how
you done the eroded parts... I must look at the code.

From clem@dhol.org:
Easily the best of the several sand castle themed images.
I particularly like the foamy surf. The sand is very well
done too.

From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au:
Easily the best sandcastle image this round. Your sand texture is good,
and the surf also looks quite realistic, and you actually show the process
of something being ruined. About the only thing to add is some seashells
and maybe a gull.

From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk:
Fantastic image, great sand great water great interpretation of the theme.
The only real improvement that I can think of is that the water closest to
the camera on the left looks more like ice than water, don't know what you
could do about that, I think it's probably a lighting problem, but moving
the main light source would change the image considerably. I might d/l the
source and see what it looks like without the radiosity, but this will
just be for interest after I've finished marking all the images.

Its really the best water/sand interaction I've seen before - a bit more random stones would had been nice, this beach is still too clean
Notable for modelling, textures

I was very surprises when I saw this, beause it is pretty much exactly the same as my idea. I think this one's a fair bit better than mine though.
Notable for modelling, originality
