A good artistic touch there. The red and green lights from a boat (?) 
are a really nice detail. As you said, good sand isn't that easy to
create, nor are sandy shapes. Both these difficulties slightly hamper
the technical score. There's an odd light contrast too; the sea is very
dark, but the sandy beach is fairly well lit, even highlights form. Hmm?

I love the use of color in this scene, and the sandcastle 
turned out well.  It's hard to really tell that the lights in 
the distance are from houses, though... it looks like it 
could be a fireworks display or an odd meteoric 
phenomenon.

You've made a good start on this but wouldn't there be footprints around by 
where the castle is, and the sand would be less undulating in an area where
children had been playing.
