The land and trees are nicely done this looks like a good technique to get decent trees & land without spending days rendering fractal trees. I would add some texture to the land though. The moon technique I thought was beautiful (I'll have to try it)Your city buildings would look better with a little texture and the ripples of the water seem too big.

I love the background of this scene... the sky and the 
water are very nice.  The birds, although simple, work 
well, as does the blurring of the leaves in the 
foreground.  The look and style of the city and the trees 
doesn't mesh well with the rest of the scene, although 
the shaping on the three tall buildings looks to be on the 
right track.
