IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

It took me a while to think of a good idea for this topic. I was searching the
internet for pictures of a city, then a small 100x150 image of a city night sky
with a large bridge was staring me in the face and I said to my self, this is
going to take a while. To view it properly you have to adjust your brightness
so you can see the stars in the sky behine the clouds. I addjested the gamma,
but Im not so sure on the accuracy of my monitor.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

I started the image, modeling every building by hand with windows and all, as I
got up to about 3 of the sky scrapers I suddenly realised I had to find a way
to simplify yet keep the true look of a building, So it struck me why not just
use simple squares for the buildings and texturemap all four sides with a small
bitmap of a building, well that turned out to be the trick, if I had stuck with
the modeling every building by hand I would have had to borrow a SGI
workstation from Lucas, himself, just to get the thing to render within a year
on my computer.

After I got the buildings, land, water, trees and other assorted objects in
place I started to design the bridge.

There is a funny twist to the entire creation to this image, the whole thing was
totaled due to a file saving error right after i finished it and I hade to
remake the whole thing over again by scratch within the last 6 days. Im proud
of my work, considering it is the second scene I have ever attempted to create
with 3dsmax. Also , redoing the image made me add the little fine touches that
made the image what it is. Any suggestions would be helpfull.

My only drawback to making this image was the hardware issue. I wish I had a
faster processor, so I could add more to my scene but maybe next year, thanks
for taking the time to read the description. Im sorry I havent included the
scene file but I dont have a DSL connection and the 3dsmax file is 10megs plus
all the textures.
