IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

My image, as the title says, is located inside the Area 51 Cryo Labs (for those
who don't know, Area 51 is the military base where they supposedly keep the
remains of the crashed UFO from Roswell, if I'm correctly informed). There's a
humanoid alien in a cryo tank filled with green fluid. On the right side you
can see a computer terminal held by a robotic arm which comes directly from
some sensors indside the tank which measure the alien's life-cycle status. On
the left there's a medical robot floating in the air with two arms, on one a
hypodermic needle, on the other a scalpel. It's got a big reflective eye on a
third arm which is extened to the viewer.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

First of all, I created the alien in Creature Creator and converted it to the
UDO format in 3DWin. After that I moved all the body parts in place as I had
intended them. After that I started to create the glass wall of the tank which
should enclose the alien. After that was done I created the rest of the tank,
most parts of which are primitives and CSG Objects. It wasn't until then that I
finally created a room which should enclose the whole thing. I put some stuff
in it to make it look futuristic or just cool. After that I created the sensor
ring around the tank with the robotic arm on it. By the way, all the parts of
the arm can be turned at their joints. So it was easier for me to put it into
the perfect position later on. After that I only had to create the robot. It's
made up mostly of primitives, CGS objects and two sweeps. I used very few image
maps as textures. Most of them are mathematical textures. I also used quite a
bit of PoVRay's new particle system. The cryo fluid is a cylinder filled with
particles. Also the glowing rings and the robot's engine.
Image is rendered with Radiosity.

The zip files contains some shots from the single parts of the picture.
