IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

The year is 2078. A space laboratory has been set up not far from Earth to
experiment with short distance hyperspace travel. The hyperspace gates have
been initialized and the purpose built ship "Traveller" approaches the Entrance
gate. Will this be mankinds first successful attempt at hyperspace travel?...

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

The two hyperspace gates are based on the prism primitive. The water effect
inside the gates is a heigthfield which was created in POV-Ray using a marble
pattern. The spaceship "Traveller" is CSG, the main body and the
rocket boosters are based on the bezier patches from the Teepee example in the
POV-Ray help. The rocket flame effect is based on the Bunsen Burner code by
ReVerSi
which can be found on POV-Objects
(http://povobjects.keyspace.de/cgi-bin/objlist.cgi)
The background was created using the galaxy include file.
The light effect as the spaceship enters the hyperspace gate is the warp flare
from the NKFlare Plug-In.
The source code zip contains all the files needed to create the image.
