IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

So you decided to buy some smuggled bananas instead of legally imported
colombian bananas? well, there is a surprise for you, in fact there are three
big surprises walking to you ...(it's a true story, it happened to the friend
of a friend...)

I don't know if a big spider could survive a long travel inside a box, and I
also don't know if the spiders in my scene are oversized, so don't make any
comments about those aspects...

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

1. Modelling : This scene contains only primitives and a couple of lathe
objects, most objects were modeled using Calimax Modeller. The spider was made
using 60 spheres, including seven for each foot, the bananas use a couple of
lathe objects, some cylinders and a sphere for each one, and everything else
consists of boxes, lathe objects, spheres and some csg.
2. Textures : The scene uses mostly procedural textures, I used image maps for
the floor, the walls and the box with my name/website, and bump maps for the
floor and the walls (all those images were created using Pbrush and
edited/converted with IrfanView), everything else has procedural textures.
Layered textures were useful to give a dirty look to the floor and the objects
in the scene. It was useful that the spider was made of spheres, so I could
give a procedural texture to each sphere and I did not need any image map for
the spider.
3. Scene : The objects for the scene were put together using EditPad, I made
some test renders with PovRay before I got the final scene that I wanted.
4. Image : POV-Ray rendered the scene as an 800x600 .bmp file, and I used Jans
Formati 8 to make the .jpg file.

This scene is very simple, but if you have any doubt you can take a look at the
source...

Notes:
1. I know this is not an impressive scene, it's just that I did not submit
anything for the previous two rounds and I just wanted to return to the
competition, anyway this scene is just a little joke, so don't take it too
seriously... (my best scene till today got a poor 25th place, so I don't care
if I don't win... but I hope I'll get a 24th place)
2. The zip file contains all the source for this scene including the .gif files
that I used for the image maps and bump maps, if you have any comments or
suggestions about this source, just e-mail me.
3. You could NEVER find tarantulas with your legally imported colombian bananas,
a scene like this could only be possible with some smuggled fruits from
God-knows-where, so say NO to smuggling, and buy only Colombian bananas. ( not
kidding, people here need the money )...( and I'm not in banana's bussiness...
)
