IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

The image shows a very rare species of insect. It was discovered 5
months ago in the jungle of the Congo
and has still not be named.
It does not have any wings, however it has a giant trunk which is used
to detect food and to consume it.
It seems to be a familiar to the Muscidae, but it is much bigger.
Unfortunately further investigations had to be interrupted because of
the civil war in the Congo. We will
keep an eye on it and at any opportunity we will continue to inform
about this strange discovery. ;)

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

I firs created some speres, applied some modifiers and converted them
to editable meshes. So I was able to
ajust the shape the way I liked.
The feet are a group of modified speres which where linked to bones and
an inverse kinematics modifier;
this allowed me to move them and ajust there position without any
limites.
The trunk is a loft object which contains 7 different shapes.
After completen the modelling y exported the objects to be able to pain
the textures with DeepPaint 3D.
After the texturing had been done, I just had to create the fur effect
and some leaves. The backround
is an image I created for the IRTC and the topic "wilderness" (created
with Bryce).
