You did an excellent job creating the lighting and terrain in the scene. 
Something that seems missing from the scene is the ruins of the fort which this
soldier defended.  IMHO the skull should have been closer to the camera, and
more of a focus in the scene in order to strengthen the sense of hopelessness

Nice use of light and contrast, although I think I'd prefer 
the shadowed areas to be a touch less black.  The

I like the image, but it just slightly misses the mark.  Maybe it's because 
I cannot see his face.
Good lighting.  Scene nicely portrays the horrors of war.  Bare-necked 
soldier needs a collar.  Plane on the upper left is much too close to the 
camera (at this range and direction, it would have the full attention of the 
soldier).

You seem to have some brightness issues - when I gamma-correct the
image enough to see it, the JPEG artifacts are significant.

It isn't visible to me that the soldier is crying.
