Nice tree.  The sharp shadows don't seem to match the lighting.... you would
expect sharp shadows with harder lighting but your scene seems to have have a
softer look making one expect softer lighting.

The bonsai turn out well. The dirt could have been 
intersected with a sphere or box, to keep it from going to 
the floor. Then a blue cylinder added, to give the 
impression of a pot.

structure and using an area light for illumination would probably have been
good too.
