You've fallen through the thin ice

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

A simple recipe:

Create 1 GSC bowl for the pond bed
Fill bowl with murky scattering media water
Top the water with a layer of absorption media ice
Cut a hole and cracks in the ice with a heightfield
Fill the hole with slush created with a heightfield based on the cutting
heightfield image so the fit is exact
Sprinkle trans-sweep ice chunks in the hole
Add 1 slightly greenish pointlight
Create an arm
    Bezier tube jacket sleave
    Super-quad cylinder sleave cuff
Blob hand created in Blob Sculptor
Add air bubbles to taste

Render with 100-sample focus blur for extra smoothness to get the image you see

Now spend two frustrating weeks trying to make the scene better and not be able
to do it
