IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

My favorite season is Winter, maybe because I live in Spain, a country
where winter is not too much cold, only in the highest mountains and it doesn't
snow frecuently. Or maybe beacuse I like to stay at home.

Before this contest started, I had thought to make an image of a winter
landscape so I decided to participate for the first time in the IRTC
competition.

My intention was to make a high mountain house in the middle of a cold
weather. I wanted to show the contrast between a hot house where you wanna stay

in and the cold of the winter outside.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

First of all, the image is incomplete but I had not enough time to add
more objects and make improvments in textures and models. I haven't submit the
source files beacuse there were not enough clean.

The house is made of CSG objects. There are two heightfieds, one for
the
main terrain an the other for the big mountain at the bottom.

I also made a simple function to make the pines. The one in front of the

house is made directly with this function. The pines of the forest are polygons
with an image_map of a pine rendered before. These pines are set over the
mountain
with the trace function.

The smoke are spheres with a granite texture with pigments that get
more
transparency when they get higher.

The snow on the roof and walls is a isosurface with a noise function.

The snowing are polygons with a crakle patterned texture with a
transparent
pigment. There is a bug in the render that makes appear black spots in the
transparent
part of the flakes when there is a pine before in the image.
