IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

From the poem "Le Mort D'Arthur" by Alfred Lord Tennyson :-

King Arthur is wounded in battle

"..... Sir Bedivere ... bore him to a chapel nigh the field ...
.. the moon was full"

Arthur instructs Sir Bedivere to throw Excalibur into the
nearby mere ( lake ). On his third try, after two false starts, Bedivere ran

"...among the bulrush beds, and clutched the sword,
and strongly wheeled and threw it ......
...So flashed and fell the brand Excalibur:
But ere he dipped the surface, rose an arm
Clothed in white samite, mystic, wonderful,
And caught him by the hilt, and brandished him
Three times, and drew him under in the mere ..."

Perhaps there was once a real King Arthur, perhaps even a real
Excalibur, but I think that the "Lady of the Lake" whose arm emerged to catch
the sword must belong in the realm of Mythology .

HOW THIS IMAGE WAS MADE :
This image is all CSG with four stacked planes for
clouds, a height field, some fog and a couple of spotlights. This is so far
behind the "state of the art" that there does not seem to be any point in
attaching the pov file. If anyone does want it I would be happy to provide it.
