IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

Morning dawns on Camelot. It is early and King Author and his knights are on
their way to the great hall and the round table. This is where truth and
freedom reign.

This is classic mythology. The concept of the round table was combined with the
unicorn which is another mythological medieval symbol that links to the same
time period.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

The entire model was created from scratch. The pillars started out as
cylinders, the pillar supports started out as wedge primitives. Most of the
sharp edges have been routered to give that well-worn and aged look. Spline
curves were used as starting curves for the entryways and hallway ceiling which
were then extruded. The dome was a modified sphere. The table was a modified
wedge with routered edges. The unicorn table centerpiece started out with a
silhouette of a horse that was extruded and then subdivided and then polygons
and points were pushed and pulled to shape the unicorn bust. The chair frames
and arms were created by a combination of cylinder primities and boxes that
were shooth shifted, cut, and tranformed by size, rotation and position. The
chair backs were created with a special tool called magic bevel. The cushions
seats were boxes and the cushion backs were spline curves that were extruded
and then routered. Subdivision surfaces were used to smooth many of objects.
The sun shining in from the left is a spot light with volumetrics applied.
There are two spot lights above the table one to emulate the the red glow from
the fire the other to provide more light to the table top. There were four
other linear lights that fake radiosity along the walls and under the archways.
The icons that show up on the wall shields, table, chairs, and chest were
obtained from Art Explosion CD (royalty free clipart). The tapestries are
original medieval tapestries and any copyright has long since expired. The
rest of the textures and bump maps were either public domain images or created
with procedurals or custom image maps. The inscriptions in the table were
created with bump maps; Camelot - The truth shall make you free." (Bible - John
8:32).
