A serene scene with a creepy undertone, I like it. How about some more stars
and a gradient for the sky. After that, work on the lighting and textures
could improve this scene a great deal. Nice entry.

Good hand & cactus. Needs some haze to give a sense of distance, as is, the moon
& stars look like they are only a few hundred yards away.

A simple idea with good results. I can almost feel the cool of the desert at
night; the colors that you used really help with that. The hand is well
modeled, and though it would take quite a bit longer to do, I would be quite
interested in seeing all of the unfortunate subject. Some area lighting or
even radiosity might help to smooth out the sharp shadows, and an image map
might help to make a more realistic star filled sky. I love the idea of using
photographs for height fields though. This isn't really related to your
picture, but have you ever tried using a photo for a height field and then
placing that picture (in color) on top of it as an image map? I've wasted some
serious time with that, but I had fun while doing so. Anyway, keep entering in
the future, and keep up the good work.

Is that a city in the background or just mountains? Need a little more detail I
guess. Still good concept.

I was hoping for a more variable sky.

Lovely, lovely foreground, but the horizon is a bit sharp.

I really like the sand in this! With a little more work on the sky, (and maybe
some black fog to make the mountains more distant?) this could be a great
image.
