I like the concept here and the scene composition highlights the concept well. 
Sandpaper is not a bad idea for sand but there is too much contrast in the
grains here.  The sand should have a softer appearance.  The beetle could also
benefit from some added detail.  Not a bad picture though.

A picture that both entertains and informs.  That actually is a cool fact about
those beetles.  Speaking of which, that beetle is pretty well modeled.  The
waves of sand look good, and I like the idea of using a sandpaper texture,
though I'd try to make it a bit more blended in the future.  Thanks for posting
this one.
