IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
<Fireworks from Independence Day 2002, Hilliard, Ohio. Kaleidoscopic ray
tracing of 14 August 2005.>
DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:
<This is a "minimalist" ray tracing with four objects and no light sources. One
is a photograph of fireworks; the other three are identical mirrors,
dimensions 1.39 inches by 16 inches (you may think "centimeters", if you would
like, or whatever other unit you wish). The three mirrors are attached to
form a kaleidoscope tube; it points towards the photograph but does not touch
it. In particular, one end of the tube is two inches (or your unit) from the
photo; this disjointedness is what causes the "explosive" disjointedness of
the rendered image as one moves away from its center.>
